According to PT Pertamina Geothermal Energy (PGE), the record of electricity equivalent or Electric Volume Produce for Geothermal reached 4,618.27 GWh in 2020. Ahmad Yuniarto, President Director of, reported that this achievement was 14 percent higher than the 2020 goal of 4,044.88 GWh. Yuniarto said in a statement, “The achievement above the target is due to the implementation of operation excellence which is supported by the implementation of the Geothermal Integrated Management System.”
This Pertamina Geothermal Energy achievement contributed 31% of the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources’ 2020 national geothermal output target of 14,774 Giga Watt Hour (GWh). In particular, the Kamojang Geothermal Area (AG) generated 1,650 GWh of electricity equivalent, which was 13% higher than the 2020 RKAP goal of 1,454 Gwh.
The Ulubelu Area (Lampung) and the Lahendong Area were chosen as the study’s initial focus areas (North Sulawesi). also plans to run a PLTP with an own operation power of 1.3 Giga Watt (GW) by 2030, according to Yuniarto.currently manages 15 geothermal working areas, with a total capacity of 1877 megawatts of geothermal electricity provided. This is made up of 672 MW owned by Pertamina Geothermal Energy and 1205 MW handled through a Joint Operation Contract.
