Tesla hikes Solar Roof Prices On Year Old Contracts

Reports show that over the weekend, massive Tesla Solar Roof prices increase hitting several customers. Some of the customers have been waiting a year with signed installation contracts. The price increase seems to apply to Tesla Powerwall installations as well. The cost of those is increasing by about 30%.

Few customers have already spent thousands of dollars in preparation for the job and still are being told that their Solar Roof installation will cost more than anticipated. Tesla sent out the communication yesterday which was later sent out to consumers. In addition to this, Electrek has received on their tip line, a rapidly growing Tesla Motors Club forum thread price increases.

The longtime Tesla consumers have been waiting with signed contracts for up to a year or even more. Some of them have brought up the possibility of legal action as well. The email sent out read as: We have increased the price of Solar Roof and have added adjustments for individual roof complexity. You will receive an email in the next 1-2 days when your new agreement is ready for your review and acceptance before moving forward. If you are no longer interested in moving forward with Solar Roof, you can cancel your order by logging into your Tesla Account and your deposit will automatically be refunded. We will be prioritizing customers based on the order in which they accept their updated agreements.

As the customers logged into their accounts, they found that the prices have increased nearly 30% or more than the previously agreed pricing. Few also claim that they were told explicitly that their prices would not increase after the report about Tesla’s March price hike.
