Marathon Petroleum Corp and Occidental Petroleum Underperforms

Marathon Petroleum Corp. closed $2.63 short of its 52-week high ($59.93), which the company reached on March 11th closed $6.66 short of its 52-week high ($32.52), which the company achieved on March 5th.

The stock Underperformed when compared to some of its competitors Tuesday, as Exxon Mobil Corp. XOM rose 0.63% to $59.19, Chevron Corp. CVX rose 0.55% to $106.11, BP PLC ADR BP rose 0.90% to $25.92 and ConocoPhillips COP fell 0.32% to $52.57. Trading volume (7.1 M) eclipsed its 50-day average volume of 5.7 M.Trading volume (15.0 M) remained 3.7 million below its 50-day average volume of 18.7 M. Marathon Petroleum Corp. reported a net loss of $242 million, or $(0.37) per diluted share, for the first quarter of 2021, compared with a net loss of $9.2 billion, or $(14.25) per diluted share, for the first quarter of 2020.
