The Heritage Petroleum Company Ltd crude oil tank led to approximately 318 liters of oil spilling into nearby watercourses. The petroleum company said that they are in the process of cleaning the watercourse.The news release said the company was alerted by the leaked video circulating on social media, showing oil in a watercourse near its AV106 well site in Vessigny, La Brea. The company said it took immediate action to determine the source of the leak which was traced to a crude oil tank at the well site.
The company also added that Cleaning up the waterbody is proceeding in accordance with established industry standards and protocols. There is a continuous assessment and monitoring of the site is also ongoing. All regulatory bodies were notified of the incident. In the location, the company is using booms to remove the floating physical barriers which contain oil in watercourses during spills. The release also added that this is not the first time an oil spill happened.
Today’s distribution at the company’s Penal office follows investigations conducted by our Insurance Adjusters as well as meetings with the Member of Parliament for Oropouche West, the Honourable Dave Tancoo. The State-owned oil company also its stakeholders for their cooperation and support over the last few months as the necessary process was followed to ensure a fair and reasonable outcome.
