Con Ed Manhattan Address Focused on Heat Wave Management

Con Ed suggests the citizens keep the system humming during the cranking up of humidity and temperatures. On Tuesday, June 29, 2021, night Con Ed asked customers in the parts of Queens and Manhattan to preserve power as crews fix equipment.

He said they had abridged voltage by 5 percent in the region in order to maintain service and protect equipment. Con Ed said that one of the areas is surrounded by the East River on the east, East 77th Street on the south, East 111th Street on the north, and Fifth Avenue on the west.

There is a total of 78,200 customers in the area in the Upper East Side, Yorkville, Carnegie Hill East, and Harlem neighborhoods. The western part of the Queens area is surrounded by 51st Avenue on the north, Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, Queens Boulevard on the east, the Jackie Robinson Parkway on the south, and Brooklyn borough line on the west. The area includes around 115,000 customers in the neighborhoods of Middle Village, Forest Hills Gardens, Forest Hills, and the Glendale area.

The western area of Manhattan is surrounded by the Hudson River on the west, Central Park West on the east, West 71st Street on the south, and West 111th Street and has around 77,000 customers in the Manhattan Valley and Upper West Side neighborhoods. These are the type of efforts Con Ed works during the mercury soars to keep the lights. Allan Drury, the spokesman for Con Ed, explained the working of the electrical grid and what exactly happens during heat waves and can be overtaxed.
